Cottle County Jail Roster Status
The official Cottle County Sheriff page is the local custody starting point, but it does not publish a current-inmate list, booking report, release list, mugshot feed, jail division page, or search form. The same county page points users to VINELink for offender custody status. That matters because a search for Cottle County jail inmate records can fail if the user expects the type of county-hosted roster found in larger Texas counties.
State jail reporting supports the same reading. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards population reports identify Cottle as a no-jail county in current reporting. The June 2026 current population workbook lists "Cottle (no jail)" with local capacity shown as 0 and total local jail population shown as 0 for that line. That does not mean a Cottle County arrest cannot happen. It means the public record path is custody-status first, then sheriff or receiving-jail confirmation.
Important: Do not assume a missing local roster result means release. Cottle County arrestees may be held elsewhere, transferred, or listed in a different custody system.
Search VINELink for Cottle Custody
The county's official online custody route is VINELink, not a local Cottle County roster. Start from the sheriff page when possible, then use the Texas person search at VINELink Texas. VINELink is built for custody status and notification registration, so it is useful for confirming whether a person is in custody or tracking release and transfer notices. It is not a promise of a full booking sheet, bond ledger, or mugshot gallery.
The VINELink Texas custody-status page linked for Cottle County shows why the county search starts there. After a match, use any agency or facility name shown by VINELink to decide where to call next. If the person was booked after a very recent arrest, the online status may lag behind the actual transport or booking process, so phone confirmation remains part of the search.
The VINELink Texas person-search interface is the search screen documented in the project research.
Use the interface as a custody-status check, then treat the sheriff or receiving jail as the source for booking number, bond, visits, and property rules.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| State | Dropdown or path | Yes | Use the Texas search path. The Cottle sheriff link routes to Texas VINELink. |
| Search type | Tab or category | Yes | Use person or offender search. Notification registration may appear after a custody match. |
| Last name | Text | Usually yes | Try exact spelling, alternate spelling, and last-name-only searches when needed. |
| First name | Text | Optional or paired | Useful for common surnames and family-name matches. |
| ID number | Text | Optional | Use if an agency, offender, or custody ID is known. |
| Search controls | Button | Not applicable | Submit the query, then review agency, custody, release, or notification options shown. |
Cottle County Inmate Lookup Steps
Because no official Cottle County jail roster was located, a good search uses a fallback chain. The goal is to learn who controls the person right now. That may be the sheriff, a receiving jail in another county, a state prison unit, a federal custodian, or immigration detention. Each route has different records, rules, and release procedures.
- Open the Cottle County Sheriff page and confirm the current custody-status link or contact information.
- Search VINELink Texas by name, using spelling variants, middle initials, and broader last-name searches if needed.
- If VINELink does not show a match, call the Cottle County Sheriff's Office and ask whether the person was transported to a receiving jail.
- Ask the receiving jail for the booking number, bond status, arresting agency, charges, visit rules, and release process.
- If the person has been sentenced to state prison, switch to the TDCJ inmate search.
- For federal custody, use the BOP inmate locator for sentenced federal prisoners and the U.S. Marshals Service Northern District of Texas for federal pretrial routing.
- For immigration detention, search ICE ODLS by A-Number and country of birth or by biographical information.
For very recent arrests, phone confirmation is often more useful than repeated online searches. No Cottle source states how fast VINELink or a receiving-jail system updates after arrest.
Cottle County Sheriff Contact Card
The sheriff is the local office named for custody questions. The county page gives a mailing address, phone, and email, but it does not list a jail lobby, public visitation entrance, detention desk, or records counter hours. Call before driving to Paducah for a custody issue, bond question, or records request.

When sending a Texas Public Information Act request for Cottle County jail inmate records, identify the full name, date of birth if known, date of arrest, record sought, and your contact information. Ask whether the sheriff or a receiving jail holds the booking sheet, booking photograph, bond record, or jail log. If fees apply, request an estimate before copies are made.
Cottle County Booking Fields
No Cottle County roster profile could be inspected because no county-hosted roster was located. The fields below are the practical booking fields to request from the sheriff or receiving jail. They help separate the initial arrest record from later court records, which may list different charges after prosecutor review.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Full name | The person booked or held, including spelling used by the holding agency. |
| Booking number | The receiving jail's booking identifier. Cottle does not publish a local format. |
| Booking date and time | When intake was recorded by the holding agency. |
| Arresting agency | Cottle County Sheriff, DPS, warrant agency, or another law-enforcement office. |
| Charges | Arrest or warrant charges at booking, which may differ from prosecutor-filed charges. |
| Bond | Amount and type by charge if bond has been set and no hold blocks release. |
| Custody status | In custody, released, transferred, sentenced, or held for another agency. |
| Location | Receiving jail, state prison, federal facility, or immigration detention location. |
| Mugshot | Not found on the Cottle official site. It may exist in the booking file and may be requested subject to law. |
Booking is the intake event. It can include identity checks, fingerprints, a photograph, property inventory, warrant checks, medical screening, and classification. A receiving jail's procedures control those details when the person is housed outside Cottle County.
Cottle County Custody Systems
Many failed inmate searches come from using the right name in the wrong system. Cottle County pretrial custody and receiving-jail booking records are not the same as sentenced state prison records. Federal pretrial custody is different again, and immigration detention has its own locator.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | What It Can Show |
|---|---|---|
| County arrest or pretrial custody | VINELink, sheriff phone, receiving jail | Current custody status, holding agency, bond and booking questions by phone. |
| Sentenced Texas prisoner | TDCJ inmate search | TDCJ number, SID number, unit, offense, sentence, and release fields where available. |
| Federal sentenced prisoner | BOP inmate locator | BOP register number, location, projected release date, or release history from 1982 forward. |
| Federal pretrial defendant | U.S. Marshals Northern District of Texas | Custody routing through USMS or contract housing, often before a BOP profile exists. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | Location if searchable by A-Number and country of birth or by biographical information. |
The TDCJ inmate information search form applies only after state-prison custody begins.
TDCJ states that its public information is updated on working days and is at least 24 hours old, so it should not be treated as a same-day Cottle County booking roster.
Cottle County Jail Visits and Services
Cottle County-specific visitation, inmate mail, phone, commissary, tablet, and money-deposit rules were not located in official county sources. That absence is part of the custody search. If a Cottle County arrestee is housed in another jail, that receiving jail controls visits, mail format, video accounts, property release, and deposit methods.
| Service | Cottle Official Result | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| In-person visitation | Not located | Call the sheriff to identify the holding facility, then use that facility's schedule. |
| Video visitation | Not located | Ask the receiving jail whether video visits are offered and which vendor is used. |
| Mail address | Not located | Use the receiving jail's exact mail format. Do not mail inmate items to the sheriff PO Box unless told to do so. |
| Commissary | Not located | Ask the receiving jail for the approved vendor, limits, and fees. |
| Money deposits | Not located | Confirm kiosk, online, phone, or money-order rules with the facility that holds the person. |
| Phone calls | Not located | Receiving jail rules and vendor controls apply. |
| Attorney visits | Not located | Attorney should call the current holding facility before travel. |
Note: Identify the holding facility before sending money, mailing property, scheduling a visit, or asking a bond company to act.
Cottle County Booking and Charges
A Cottle County arrest can begin with a warrant pickup, traffic stop, sheriff contact, or another agency action. Because Cottle is listed as no jail for current TCJS reporting, do not assume there is a full local jail intake building. A person may be held briefly, transported, or booked at a receiving jail. The booking record reflects the arrest charge or warrant charge at that point in time.
Later, the prosecutor may file a complaint, information, indictment, or other charging instrument. That court filing can match the booking charge, but it may also reduce, amend, reject, or add charges. For the court side of the same arrest, use Cottle County court records after jail arrest. For booking photos, use the separate Cottle County jail roster mugshots page.
- Booking
- Administrative intake after arrest, usually with identity checks, property logging, fingerprints, and a photo.
- Detainer
- A hold or request from another agency that may block release even after local bond is paid.
- PR bond
- A personal bond, meaning release on a written promise and conditions rather than full cash deposit.
- Transfer
- Movement from local custody to a receiving jail, TDCJ, federal custody, or ICE custody.
Cottle County Jail Records Requests
For records not found through VINELink, a written request under the Texas Public Information Act can be sent to the office that holds the record. For local sheriff records, use the sheriff's listed email or mailing address. For receiving-jail booking records, ask the sheriff which jail took custody, then send the request to that records office. For filed criminal cases, use the clerk rather than the sheriff.
Texas law allows redactions or withholding for active law-enforcement records, juvenile material, victim details, medical information, protected personal data, sealed records, and expunged records. A request should be narrow and factual: name, arrest date, record type, and preferred delivery method. If the agency says it does not hold the record, ask which agency does.
Note: No Cottle sheriff-specific public-information request form or copy-fee schedule was located in the official sources reviewed.
